Position Summary:

The NBA's Next Gen Platform Services group is looking for a talented product owner to lead key content and core platform initiatives. This individual will play a key role in product development initiatives that shape the future of the NBA's ongoing digital transformation by building the platform and tooling powering the Next Gen Experience.

Major Responsibility:

  • Own content management system (CMS) and content platform products end-to-end, driving product discussions (e.g. vison, goals, tenets, roadmap) across teams
  • Develop a product vision, growth strategy and OKRs for the end-to-end CMS toolkit, including content creation, publishing, and syndication through various feeds and APIs
  • Define product strategy and help prioritize the roadmap for the NBA's NextGen platform services including but not limited to CMS, content delivery, taxonomy and tagging, feeds to third parties, and overall platform
  • Leverage a deep understanding of existing content delivery and CMS strategies on sports and streaming platforms; passionate and informed about the streaming media space and various content serving techniques
  • Strong understanding of content platform strategies and implementation and content delivery and syndication to connected devices and services
  • Lead and perform daily product management activities including writing product specs and requirements, as well as crafting high level technical and user experience flows
  • Partner with consumer experience product team to understand business and user needs and align platform delivery milestones and dependencies
  • Effectively support the product design, engineering and QA teams throughout sprint cycles by proactively removing roadblocks and prioritizing work items based on established outcomes and business objectives
  • Build and manage relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders, including product owners, product marketing, content, operations, sponsorship sales, commerce, external vendors and executives
  • Review frequent application builds to ensure on-time delivery and overall product quality


Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • 5+ years in digital product development for core platform and internal tooling, especially CMS and content delivery, with a proven track record of successful launches
  • Experience with content publishing, distribution, and CMS technologies, as well as content tagging and taxonomy
  • Exposure to working with premium subscription products/services using AVOD, TVOD or SVOD business model(s)
  • Excellent communicator to senior-level executives (written and in-person); able to adapt communication style across audiences and stakeholder groups
  • Self-starter who is energetic & enthusiastic, confident, adaptable & customer-oriented
  • Experience producing wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and user interaction diagrams
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as scrum or Kanban
  • Ability to multitask and manage deadlines in a cross-functional team while remaining detail-oriented
  • Strong technical experience working with emerging technologies, video streaming, subscription systems, and platform integrations
  • Technical competence and ability to adapt to new technologies and lead teams through technology changes
  • Relevant experience within the sports media/streaming media industry uct quality


Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field preferred but not required
